Why I don’t toss my beginner art

Don't throw away your beginner doodles or sketches, even if you really want to and you really don't like them, because what I found was that over time, it gave me some data over my natural tendencies.

For example, I'm left handed and I noticed I was drawing on the slant. It wasn't until I looked at, like, several drawings that I realized that that was something I just naturally just tend to do with my hand.

Now that I’m aware of it, I’ve been making little adjustments to how I hold the pencil and my body positioning.

It still happens sometimes but I catch it pretty quickly. Had I not been keeping my sketches, it may have taken me quite a while longer to notice that I was just consistently drawing that way.

Never discount how much you can learn about your natural tendencies as you accumulate a body of art! Creating is such a beautiful thing and taking these moments to notice has more to do with self connection than anything else. That being said, I typically want to draw without the unintentional slant 😅

Thanks for hanging out and hope you have fun creating today!
